Albanian Minister of Economy, Trade and Energy Dritan Prifti presented the environmental impact of the 1 billion euro key energy project to the representatives of the local government of Gramsh, the local newspaper Panorama reported.
“This project initiative is the largest private investment in Albania in energy sector … creating 3,000 new jobs and a new infrastructure for the region,influencing the economic growth,” the minister said.
Austrian power utility EVN and Norwegian company Statkraft AS will construct three hydro power plants of combined capacity of 300 megawatts on the Devoll River, in the Gramsh area.
The project will provide the generation of about 1000 Gwh renowned energy, which will increase the actual production of power in Albania, with around 20%.
The EVN & Statkraft group awarded the contract in a tender against the consortium of Icelandic Landvirskjun and Turkish Kurum Holding company
